I’ve twisted the hotel’s arm again and gotten two more days added to the deadline. Jan. 14th is now the cutoff date for the workshop sign to get both the special rate of $197 and hotel rate of $99.

Here’s an inside look at putting on an event and maybe a little marketing lesson.
The reason I can do this event so cheaply is that if I hit my room block minimum, then the meeting space is free. That’s standard practice in the event business. So, not only do I want a lot of folks to come, but to stay at the hotel. Otherwise, I’ll have to charge about 3 times more just to cover expenses.
So, as a marketer, I saw that a few folks were booking elsewhere. That’s a problem for me. When they shop to get a better deal or use rewards points for free nights at other hotels, what should I do to nip that in the bud?
One of the announcements I was going to make at the workshop is that attendees could purchase the recordings of the 3-Day event for $97. Guest instructors will have resale rights, but at a much higher rate.
So, to ensure people at least considered staying in the hotel, I’m offering the 3-day recordings to them for FREE after the event.
See, what I did there? Another incentive to plug a leak…or at least try
