WordPress Security - Keeping the Hackers Out - Anyone?
Hi,
I've been building self-hosted WordPress sites for years and, as with any open-source platform, found that there were areas that needed to be secured. After having my websites hacked before, I made it my mission to try and stop malicious hackers from getting in.
After many years of research, I found that there was a real need for this area. Now, along with my partner, David Libovitzi, we're helping others secure their WordPress blogs. Some say I'm a computer geek, but it's my passion.
Is anyone else in this niche?Last edited by ReginaSmola; 06-13-2010 at 03:18 PM.

I'm not, but, it definitely sounds interesting. Loretta's had so many issues lately that she's changing hosting companies. Darn hackers!! Off to follow your 'security smarts' on Twitter!!

Hi Lisa,
Thanks for your reply. Sorry to hear about Loretta's issues. Some hosting companies have been hit hard with hackers at the top server level.
I'll be sure to follow you on Twitter as well. Be sure to follow my WP Security Twitter too at http://twitter.com/WPSecurityLock.Regina Smola, WordPress Security Consultant

Oh cool, followed your other Twitter account, too - thanks!

Oh - You're WPSecurityLock! You're doing a nice job. I have a hosting company and we we were hammered 15 months ago with an ugly cross account attack that came in through FTP and WP. Took weeks to clean up. And what a nightmare.
But since, we've hardened security and created account silos that - well, frankly - it's a little too tight. But we've been able to isolate any attacks to single accounts versus server wide. It's always a battle though.
Glad you're bringing this expertise in...

Hi David,
Yup, that's me. Thanks so much! I try
I've heard allot of great things about you and looking forward to meeting you in August.
Wow, sorry to hear your site got hammered. Glad you got it fixed and secured. There's no overkill with site security! My motto, "Slap the hacker so they don't come back."
It's such a nightmare when sites get hacked. Some webmasters call me in tears because they don't know what to do.
It took me 11 years to find my passion, but I'm sure glad I know what it is and can now help people full-time.Regina Smola, WordPress Security Consultant
